The department has a highly specialized and multidisciplinary team, with lawyers with additional education and law training, to work on both legal advisory and litigation matters related to energy law (electric power, oil, gas, and biofuels).

Our services include:

Elaboration, negotiation, and risk analysis of operational contracts, such as: power purchase agreement (PPA); operation and maintenance; supply of equipment and/or fuel; use of transmission/distribution system (CUST/CUSD); connection to transmission/distribution systems (CCT/CCD); gas supply (GSA); Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contracts (EPCs), among others.

Legal assistance in all development phases of electric power (generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization), gas, biofuels, and energy efficiency projects.

Legal advice regarding audits and contract negotiations for acquisitions and divestitures of companies and/or projects.

Assistance in environmental licensing, including risk analysis of all technical studies prepared during the Environmental Licensing procedures, obtaining Authorization for Vegetation Cutting, Grant for Water Use, and Declaration of Public Utility.

Assistance in project finance operations.

Monitoring of bidding processes, granting, and contracting of concessions or authorizations at regulatory agencies.

Elaboration, negotiation, and risk analysis of the real estate contracts that involve the energy projects, such as leases, assignments of use, and purchase and sale of real estate.

Issuance of legal opinions, opinions, and memoranda on specific legislation and regulations.

Tax analysis and charges applicable to sectorial businesses.

Mediation, arbitration (including with the Public Administration), administrative and judicial litigation involving sectorial issues.
